Brandaris Race 2026 – Sailing to Terschelling
The Brandaris Race is an annual, spectacular sailing race for traditional sailing ships from Harlingen to Terschelling, organized in honor of the iconic Brandaris lighthouse. This event attracts sailors of all levels: from avid competitive sailors to flat-bottom sailing enthusiasts. The trip is challenging, with wind, waves, and currents that make navigation a real experience.
Wadden Sea:
During the Brandaris Race, you will sail through the unique Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience real mudflat sailing. You will see the strong currents and sandbanks at low tide and enjoy the rich nature full of birds and other wildlife. From the mainland to the island, you will sail among dozens of traditional flat-bottomed boats and other sailing ships through one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. Every moment showcases the unique character of the Wadden Sea region, making sailing to Terschelling an unforgettable experience.

Whether you are an experienced sailor or embarking on your first adventure on a sailing ship, the Brandaris Race is suitable for everyone. The permanent crew will guide you through all the tasks on deck, explain everything calmly, and ensure that every participant can actively participate. This makes sailing to Terschelling not only an exciting race, but also an educational and unforgettable experience full of teamwork, adventure, and fun.
Program:
Friday evening: Boarding in Harlingen, introduction, and safety briefing.
Saturday morning: Breakfast and sailing instructions from the mate (sailor), followed by departure at approximately 10:00 a.m. from the starting line in the port of Harlingen.
During the trip: A light lunch on board and plenty of opportunity to actively help out on the deck of the sailing ships.
Arrival in Terschelling: Hot dinner and evening award ceremony in the village of West, near the ships.
Sunday morning: Relaxed return trip to Harlingen, arrival in the afternoon.
On board: Friday, October 16, 2026, 8:00 p.m. in Harlingen
Disembarkation: Sunday, October 18, 2026, 5:00 p.m. in Harlingen
Prices:
Price per person in a (shared) 2 or 4-person cabin: €330
One-time per booking STO Guarantee: €15
