Experience spring aboard the “Middelsee” during a relaxing day of sailing on the Lauwersmeer. As nature awakens, the first migratory birds return, and the landscape slowly turns green again, we’ll enjoy a wonderful day on the water. Together with a small group of like-minded guests, you’ll discover the tranquility, open spaces, and beauty of this special nature reserve from the deck of a comfortable and atmospheric sailing ship.

Sailing on the Lauwersmeer—Nature Awakens
On this special day trip, we’ll explore the expansive Lauwersmeer National Park from the water. At 10:00 a.m., you’ll be welcomed aboard in Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen with coffee, tea, and a small treat. Then we’ll hoist the sails together and set sail toward spring.

Along the way, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the fresh spring air, the bird-rich surroundings, and the ever-changing landscape. If you’d like, you can actively help with sailing, but of course, you can also simply relax on deck and enjoy the view. Around noon, we’ll serve a fresh lunch on board. Depending on the weather and conditions, we’ll make a short stop at a small island in the Lauwersmeer along the way.

In the late afternoon, we’ll set course back to Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen, where we’ll dock again around 6:00 p.m.

Prefer to get away for a full weekend? Overnight stays before and after the sailing day are available
Would you like to start the day in a particularly relaxed way or enjoy the peace and atmosphere on board a little longer? Then you can book an overnight stay with breakfast on board before and/or after the sailing day. This makes it easy to turn this spring outing into a full weekend in the beautiful Lauwersmeer region.

This day of sailing is ideal for solo travelers, couples, friends, or small groups who want to spend a special day outdoors in one of the Netherlands’ most beautiful natural areas.

Enjoyment is the focus of the tour. You’ll be welcomed with coffee, tea, and a small treat, and throughout the day we’ll provide a hearty lunch as well as hot and cold beverages. On board, there’s plenty of space to relax, meet new people, and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for a while.
