Sailing family trip

15/20-08-2027
5 - 16 persons

Five days—several families—one boat, and an adventure you’ll never forget.

Imagine this: you wake up in the morning, stick your head out the hatch, and look out over the water.
For five days, the Emma is your home. A place where you cook, eat, play, laugh, and, of course, sail together. Because your vacation home isn’t stationary—it sails along with you, from one beautiful spot to the next!

Sailing with Stephan, Rebecca, and Katharina
Stephan and Rebecca are the skippers and owners of the Emma. They’ll be there for you throughout the entire trip. They’ll sail with you and ensure a safe and relaxed atmosphere on board.
As certified educators, they bring a wealth of experience and empathy to their interactions with people, especially children and teenagers. They’re friendly, caring, and have a great sense of humor, but they also give clear instructions when necessary. This includes simple and consistent safety rules, such as requiring all children under 12 to wear a life jacket.
Katharina is also part of the crew and plays an important role on board. She coordinates meals and ensures that everything below deck runs smoothly, so you can fully enjoy your vacation.

Who is this trip for?
This sailing trip is for families with children of all ages. The crew creates a safe and relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Children can help with sailing, explore the ship, play, and swim. Meanwhile, parents enjoy the peace and quiet, nature, and time together. No sailing experience is necessary: our experienced crew ensures that everything runs smoothly and safely.

For kids: pure adventure
For kids, the sailing ship is much more than just a mode of transportation—it’s one big adventure! They actively participate in sailing, help hoist and lower the sails, and sometimes even get to take the helm. This way, they discover life on board through play and feel a sense of pride: I can do this!

Weather and conditions permitting, there’s time to swim, jump, and splash around. There’s plenty to do ashore, too: from eating ice cream and strolling along the beach to gathering around a cozy campfire together.

cooking and eating together:
On board, we cook and eat together. All families help with the preparation, cooking, setting the table, and washing dishes. There is a shared onboard fund for meals. Each adult contributes €80; for children, the amount is adjusted based on their age.
The onboard fund is managed by the crew, and all meals are paid for from it. If there is money left over at the end of the week, the remaining amount will be divided equally among all participants and refunded.

Program:
The exact itinerary depends on the wind, the weather, and your preferences. Therefore, the program below is just an example: every trip is a little different!

Sunday Evening – Arrival
Onboard: 8:00 p.m., Stavoren Harbor on the IJsselmeer
Settle into your cabin, stow your luggage, and explore the Emma. You’ll get to know the other families. Together with Stephan and Rebecca, you’ll go over what the week might look like.

Monday – Cast Off!
After breakfast, Rebecca will give a brief briefing on deck. Then we’ll cast off, hoist the sails, and set out onto the IJsselmeer. Time to pitch in, learn new things, and above all, have fun! We’ll have lunch on board in between. In the afternoon, we’ll dock at a harbor, lower the sails, and tidy up the boat together. After that, you’ll have free time until dinner.

Tuesday – Sailing and Swimming
After breakfast, we’ll hoist the sails and head out onto the water. Everyone can pitch in, discover new things, and enjoy sailing. Weather permitting, we’ll jump off the boat into the water to swim and splash around. Then we’ll sail to the next harbor, where there’s plenty of space to play, explore, and eat together.

Wednesday – A Day Ashore
Today we’ll explore a new place on foot or by bike. Whether it’s enjoying an ice cream, swimming at the beach, or heading out on an adventure—anything is possible. Each family sets its own pace and plans the day as they wish.

Thursday – Enjoying Time Together
After a few days on board, everyone feels more and more at home. Sailing becomes more familiar, and there’s plenty of time to cook, eat, laugh, and swim together. We end the day cozy by a campfire, weather permitting.

Friday – A Crew Together
After our final breakfast together, we cast off one last time. We enjoy the wind in our hair and our final hours on the water. Maybe we’ll even make plans for when we’ll see each other again!
