Vrouwezand

Stavoren
6 - 14 multi-day, 20 day trip

Safety

The Vrouwezand dates back to 1903. Yvonne van Scheijen has been at the helm since 1994. Over the years, the ship has been adapted to modern standards.
Today, she is a modern, comfortable sailing vessel with full standing height throughout and meets all safety requirements. Light colors give the ship a pleasant, homely atmosphere. The spacious lounge features a well-equipped kitchen with a 4-burner professional gas stove, a large oven, and appropriate kitchen inventory.
There are separate ladies’ and gents’ toilets, ample washing facilities, and a shower.
The ship is rented including duvets and bed linen.

Skipper/Owner
Skipper and owner Yvonne van Scheijen trained as a biologist in Wageningen, with sailing as her passion. After obtaining her inland navigation certificate and completing training at the Enkhuizer Zeevaartschool, Yvonne sails with guests on the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea.
The Vrouwezand is equipped with approximately 2 km of rigging, making hoisting the sails smooth and effortless. Peace and spaciousness alternate with shared, active sailing. On the evening or morning before departure, the desired route is discussed. The latest weather reports are reviewed, and based on these, the route is determined together with you.

In 2020, the maximum number of guests for overnight stays was reduced from 20 to 14.
Today, you can book a spacious ship with 18 berths in 6 cabins for a maximum of 14 people. This means more space for everyone, with flexible sleeping arrangements (e.g. two people per cabin).
The Vrouwezand’s lounge has been adapted for smaller groups and has a cozy feel, with a (possible) lounge area and three smaller tables.

In winter, the ship is moored in the city center of Groningen at a unique location and can be rented as accommodation for cultural, musical, or sporting activities.

From 2027 onward, the ship will remain in the province of Groningen and sail from Zoutkamp, Lauwersoog, and the surrounding area. An exception remains the Oerol Festival, which will be included in the program if there is sufficient interest. With destinations such as the Lauwersmeer, Schiermonnikoog, or the Frisian/Groningen inland waterways, the ship and skipper opt for calmer cruising waters.
