Sailing on the Suydersee:
On board the Klipper Suydersee, large groups can relax and enjoy a wonderful sailing trip. If desired, there’s plenty of opportunity to experience authentic sailing. Join in hoisting the sails and navigating the two-masted ship during your sailing trip.
This impressive two-masted clipper is based in Harlingen and primarily sails on the Wadden Sea. But of course, a trip along the IJsselmeer coast and even through Friesland is also possible.
Whether you’re a family group, a company outing, or a school group, you’ll quickly feel at home aboard this sporty sailing vessel.
From its home port of Harlingen, the Suydersee primarily sails on the Wadden Sea. A sailing trip to the Wadden Islands of Texel, Vlieland, and Terschelling is possible during both midweek and weekend trips, depending on weather conditions. Grounding is generally possible as well, though this too depends on weather conditions and the tide.
On longer trips, you can also sail to Ameland with the Suydersee. When visiting Ameland, we recommend the route via Lauwersoog, Dokkum, Leeuwarden, and Franeker back to Harlingen. This route offers the “best of both worlds”: a sailing trip across the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Wadden Sea, as well as a sailing trip through the tranquil Lauwersmeer area, which is also stunning. For several years now, a pair of ospreys has even been nesting here. In Dokkum, you’ll naturally want to visit the world’s first ice fountain! And Franeker, an old university town, is famous for Eijse Eijsinga’s unique planetarium.
Layout:
The ship has an overnight capacity of 34 guests, spread across 13 cabins. All cabins are, of course, equipped with central heating, so you can enjoy a comfortable stay on board even in the spring and fall. Additionally, the cabins feature a sink with hot and cold water, and each bed has a reading lamp.
There are 3 toilets and 3 showers on board.
The spacious salon, featuring plenty of varnished wood and warm red upholstery, is very roomy. The salon houses the bar with a beer tap system.
The four large dining tables with benches and individual chairs provide ample seating for 34 people. On board, there is a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, and a stereo system.
The kitchen is separate from the salon and equipped with a 6-burner gas stove, an oven with a warming compartment, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator, and a coffee maker.
