The sailing barge ‘Stânfries' cis more than 100 years old. This ship was built in 1902 by shipyard ‘Barkmeijer' in Sneek to transport peat, coals, wood, and grains. The name ‘Stânfries' comes from ‘real Fries' and this refers to both the ship and the skipper. When in the 70s the ship was rebuilt and became a ship for charter, they retained its outside's original and authentic style. Beautifully varnished woodwork and classic colours give the ship an elegant and sturdy look. Below decks you find a cosy nostalgic sphere where you can sit on a big table. A wood-stove, a nicely mahogany wood-lining interior, and many portholes, characterize the ship's warm and genuine interior. The skipper, named Sjoerd, sails since 1985 and in 1993 he became the owner of this barge. He knows the ropes at his best and stays calm under all circumstances. This classical barge suits perfectly well for the adventures of families, clubs, school-groups, or friends. The sailing-barge ‘Stânfries' is a robust, flexible, and safe ship and discovers together with you the nicest spots on and near the water. The skipper and his mate are available at all times to share their knowledge and experiences.
