The clipper named the ‘Jeppe van Schier' (first named the ‘North Friesland') left the slipway in 1903 and was built by the firm ‘Boot' in Leiderdorp. You could see right away that this eye-catching clipper was stunning! Today, there are only three clippers sailing of this shipyard and they are all strikingly beautiful and fast clippers. The ‘Jeppe van Schier' was built to travel to and from the beautiful island Terschelling by the then skipper, who also had there his captain's house. Later, the clipper was used to motor freight shipping. One day, a Swede saw the ship, bought it, took it to Sweden, and gave it back its masts and sails. In the nineties the clipper was bought by the Dutch Friso Runia and brought her back to the Netherlands. In 2007, I took her over and my name is Pieter Teensma. I started to sail these impressing kinds of ships in 1994. First, I was a mate for two years and later I became a skipper. In 1999, I bought my own ship, named the ‘Antonia Maria' and for eight years I sailed on this ship with great pleasure. Since 2007 I am the owner and skipper of the ‘Jeppe van Schier' and I feel very happy with this beautiful clipper! I very much enjoy this occupation, the sailing, the nature, and having guests on board of the ‘Jeppe van Schier'. You are very welcome to join me on board of this delightful ship!
