The ‘Hollandia' is a robust ‘tjalk', a Dutch sailing barge, which can be found on the water from half April until November each year. Because of the dimensions and features of this barge, and her relatively shallow draft, she is perfectly well suited for an engaging adventure. The ship's elegant interior invites you to spend time together. There is sufficient space for 16 persons to live here. The strategic situated galley offers lots of space to cook with more people simultaneously. Moreover, you find a stove with six burners, an oven, a large refrigerator with freezer, and a lot of room to storage your groceries. The hostess and tjalk-owner is Evelien. Since 2000 Evelien is the proprietress of this barge named ‘Hollandia'. The ‘Hollandia' regularly sails contests and that is why Evelien's knowledge is huge about sailing and the sailing area. These experiences impact the Hollandia's sailing trips: sailing during the night on the IJsselmeer or Waddensea, trying to make that one short cut, or trying to moor or dock without using the motor; of course only as circumstances permit. Knowledge of sailing is not necessary. Sailing on the ‘Hollandia' is a team sport, trimming sails together, and making diverse manoeuvres. In Evelien's view, sailing really makes fun when you understand what you are doing, and that is why ‘Hollandia's' crew puts a lot of effort in explaining different operations. It is sparkling and exciting to sail on board of the ‘Hollandia'.
